1. What are JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets and what they are used for
JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets contain activated charcoal and are used for the relief of indigestion, heartburn, wind, flatulence, dyspepsia (pain inthe upper abdomen, bloating, belching and nausea). You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 5 days.
Do not give JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets to children under the age of 12 years.
2. What you need to know before you take JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets Do not take JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets if you:
- Are allergic to activated charcoal or any of the other
- ingredients in this medicine (listed in section 6).
- Are taking any other medicines, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Warnings and precautions.
If you are taking other medicines, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets as activated charcoal is apowerful adsorbent and may reduce the effect of other medicines.
If symptoms worsen or persist after 5 days, consult your doctor.
Children
Do not give JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets to children under the age of 12 years.
Other medicines and JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist ‘if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Taking activated charcoal at the same time as other medicines may reduce the effect of those medicines.
JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets with food and drink:
JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets may be taken before or after meals.
See section 3. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water or chewed.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets may be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Driving and using machines
JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets will not affect your ability to drive or use machines.
JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets contain sucrose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contactyour doctor before taking this medicinal product.
3. How to take JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist ifyou are not sure. The recommended dose is:
Adults and Children over 12 years: 2-4 tablets taken three times a day. The tablets may be swallowed whole with water or may be chewed. Take before or after meals.
Use in children
Not suitable for children under the age of 12 years.
If you take more JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets than you should:
Stop taking the tablets and consult your pharmacist or doctor.
If you forget to take JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets
Take the next dose and continue using according to the dosage instructions. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you have anyfurther questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Regular use may cause a darkening of the stools. If thisside effect concerns you, tell your doctor or pharmacist.
Reporting of side effects
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
5. How to store JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets JL Bragg
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 25ºC. Keep the carton in the original packaging
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the bottle label or blister carton after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not throw away any medicines via waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist to dispose of medicines you no longer use. Thesemeasures will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information What JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets contain:
The active substance is activated charcoal, 300mg.
The other ingredients are sucrose, tragacanth and magnesium stearate.
What JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets look like and the contents of the pack:
JL Bragg Medicinal Charcoal Tablets are round, biconvex black tablets. The tablets are available in a container of 50, 100 or 250 or in blister packs of 30, 60 or 105 tablets.
Not all pack sizes are marketed.
