Holland & Barrett
Charcoal biscuits are flying off the shelves at Holland & Barrett, weekly orders are now being received and dispatched urgently for restocking in H&B Stores. Our biscuit formulation has recently been tweaked to use a low gluten flour which is much closer to the orignal flour used in the 1800's to make biscuits, the texture of the biscuit is very similar to a digestive biscuit now and is proving to be very popular. If you can't find the biscuits in your local store you can purchase the biscuits on line from our web site.

Price Reviews
The price of our base material, activated charcoal over the past 12 month's has increased by over 20%, with immediate effect the price of all powder charcoal products will be increased to reflect this. The main reason for the increase is due to the demand for the material in Japan to protect drinking water supplies from environmental radioactive contamination.

Activated Charcoal & Horses
Recently we have been inundated with requests for product from customers with horses suffering from digestive conditions, horses are very much like humans in that our digestive system can be eailiy upset. Unlike humans, with horses it can lead to disastrous consequences in loss of life, many horse owners have been turning to activated charcoal to treat these conditions and we are pleased to be able to assist our customers and provide relief for these graceful animals. We recommend the product is used under veterinary supervision or advice, just in case there are underlying conditions or medication which is being administered that may interact with our activated charcoal.
We have discovered that some companies are marketing non pharmaceutical grades of activated charcoal for the treatment of these conditions, we shall not identify these product or companies, we can only advise customers that it is best practise to use pharmaceutical grades for oral applications which are the purest and highest potency materials available. One of our customers provided us with a sample of a charcoal product which we tested to determine it's potency, this was found to be less than 5% the potency of our std pharmaceutical grade.

Price Review
Regretfully we have been forced to review our sales prices (effective 1st July 2011), as a direct result of increased pressures placed on the cost of packaging materials, delivery charges and increases in the cost of raw materials. This is the first price increase we have passed on to our customers since 2009 as we have been able to absorb the increases imposed by our suppliers over this period, some of our regular customers may have noticed an increase in January this year which was the direct result in the rateable value of VAT. We have not increased the cost of P&P for the past 3 years and hope that we can maintain this competitive rate for some time to come. Kind regards JL Bragg
New Research
A paper published by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, suggests that Activated Charcoal when taken orally may be of clinical significance in the treatment of cerebral malaria. Studies carried out on mice indicated survival rates increased significantly on mice treated orally with Activated Charcoal Vs mice not treated with Activated Charcoal. Phase 1 clinical trials in man suggests that Activated Charcoal did not interfere with the pharmokinetics of parenteral Artesunate (a potent anti-malarial drug). Posted 21st June 2011.

Good for hangovers: Celebrities are endorsing the dietary benefits of charcoal tablets, sold in health stores
The bizarre world of celebrity has seen some extreme diets. But the latest craze would shock even the most committed celebrity weight watcher - it is called the charcoal diet.
Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding is a fan, claiming eating carbon gets rid of 'toxins'. Miss Harding sprinkles it on food and says it helps her tone up. In fact, charcoal has been used to stop the body absorbing poisons since the 19th century. It is allegedly good for hangovers and stops flatulence.
But before you start snacking on a disposable barbecue, take note: the benefits only come from activated charcoal, found in tablets sold in health stores.A mouthful of the raw stuff and you'll need to wash your mouth out - and avoid naked flames.
